About Us

Jerrome Recorders started life as an evening class in Bath taken by Jerry Jerrome in 1983. Jerry was Headmaster of Fosseway Junior School and did a lot to foster recorder playing by children in Bath, not only in his school, but more widely through running a childrens' recorder band which came together with the adults from the evening class to give recitals in Bath Abbey three times a year. Ann Lyall and the Jerrome Recorder Group When Jerry was no longer able to carry on, Ann Lyall took over both groups. The adult group, then named The Jerrome Recorder Group, developed into a recital band and functioned independently of the children. Under Ann's direction the group thrived and played a wide range of music.
Debbie Nicholas has now taken over from Ann and the group is now called Jerrome Recorders. The group is currently about twenty strong and members play the full range of recorders from the tiny garklein to the giant contrabass. We give regular concerts in Bath and the surrounding towns and villages. Jerrome Recorders at Kingswood in 2009 Debbie Nicholas, conductor
